The best health care system in Europe

In a study compiled by the widely renowned Health Consumer Powerhouse in Stockholm, Austria has the best health care center in 2007. Especially in Vienna, where medical experts exert much effort to make sure its citizens have no excuse not to stay healthy. This is done by keeping them informed through their medical campaigns. Vienna’s healthcare institutions also have health insurance available for its citizens. Apart from that, they also give free vaccinations for children and for the adults; they have 1 free medical check-up per year. It was estimated that a total of EUR. 2.4 billion was allocated by the City Administration for nursing and healthcare.

Gender-based medicine

The Medical University of Vienna has concentrated on studying gender-based medicine. Studies show that male and female organisms have different reaction from certain chemicals – some of which could be harmful. Sadly, the pharmaceutical industry has been slow to accept these new research findings. Funds for clinical research remains uncertain.
