Imperial Vienna

Vienna was once the heart of the Habsburg Austrian Empire.  Power was reflected in the palaces built to house the nobility, and these palaces are grand examples of architecture in Vienna during its imperial times.  Gothic, romantic and baroque architecture are exemplified by these palaces, churches and other edifices in imperial Vienna.

Modern Vienna

The architecture of Vienna is not limited to what is old, gothic and baroque.  In Vienna are found some of the best examples of Art Nouveau architecture, as shown by the Kirche am Steinhof and the Karlsplatz Stadtbahn Station.  The architectural styles continue to move forward with the construction of the Millennium Tower in 1999.
